BOOKS, endorsed by MEKUTI
Mekuti advocates gentle behaviour and calming techniques that help people interact with their dogs towards helping them enjoy happier and more rewarding experiences together. As with all the products found on our website, we only stock books that we use and refer to in our own training.
Here you will find books which will help you understand and be with your companion animal in a truly mutually beneficial and rewarding way. We do this by observing and really looking at dog's behaviour and also focussing upon nutrition.
Most of all, though, we believe training should not be hard work so much as fun, for everybody! |
On Talking Terms with Dogs: Calming Signals
Reading this excellent book will help you interact with your dog more fully by learning to recognise signals in dog behaviour and dog body language that dogs use to communicate with one another.
Norwegian dog trainer and behaviourist Turig Rugaas has made it her life work to study canine social interaction and has coined the phrase "calming signals" to describe the social skills that dogs use to avoid conflict, invite play and communicate a wide range of information to other dogs – and also humans.
Every dog needs his human to read this book!
- Learn to identify situations that are stressful to your dog so that you can resolve or avoide them.
- Rehabilitate a dog that has lost her ability to read or give calming signals.
- Become a keen observer of canine behaviour at home, in the community, and among dogs to get better behaviour and build a solid relationship.
Fully and clearly illustrated throughout, this book is easy to read and learn from and may contain a few surprises as to the true meaning of some dog behaviour and mannerisms.
